The majority of items cannot be shared between heroes. The purchasing hero is considered the owner of the item and only they can use, sell, or upgrade it.
A few consumables are the exception. This is important for support heroes who can purchase Sentry Wards and other consumables for other heroes to use.
Normally unshareable item effects from consumables such as Salve, Clarity, Bottle, and Enchanted Mango, have a nearby buffer range of 250, allowing longer cast ranges on allies nearby. The items Shadow Amulet and Glimmer Cape also have this buffer range.
Most items are unusable by the Animal Courier, including fully shareable items. Only a select few will work, listed below.

Shared items cannot be sold by anyone except the owner, and items that can stack in the inventory do not stack with identical items belonging to another player. They take up another inventory slot instead.
Fully Shareable Items[edit]
Fully shareable means the item can be given to and used fully by other heroes without restriction. It can only be sold by the original owner.
