$540+$60 Deep Stack NLH $2 Million Guaranteed. Level 18: Blinds 3,000/6,000/500 ante Total Entries: 4,515 Players Remaining: 620 Average Stack: 182,000. The biggest event thus far on the 2013 Borgata Poker Open slate was the Deeper Stack No-Limit Hold'em Event, a $560 re-entry tournament with $500,000 guaranteed. The 1,056 entries created a prize.

Things kicked off with a bang on Wednesday, March 27, with Event #1 $365 No-Limit Hold’em Re-Entry, which attracted 800 entries and created a prize pool of $240,560. Only 125 players survived the various starting flights, with 25-year-old Zachary Donovan holding the chip lead heading into Day 2. Donovan, who has nearly $1 million in online poker winnings, and who recently relocated to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, used that big stack not only to plow through the money bubble at 81 players, but also to navigate to the final table.

The event was scheduled to finish on Day 2, but an impromptu third day had to be added to the schedule. Six players advanced to Day 3, with Donovan holding 3,050,000 in chips, Sam Taylor with 2,134,000, and the other four each under a million. As one could expect, the big stacks prevailed with Donovan and Taylor advancing to a heads up battle that lasted about two hours. In what would be the last hand of the tournament, Taylor got all in with and was racing against the of Donovan. An ace on the flop looked good to Taylor, but when a four turned, it was all over.

Poker pro Roland Israelashvili ended up bubbling the final table by finishing in tenth place for $1,999, but a couple of well-known pros managed to squeeze into the top nine. One of those pros is Jamie Kerstetter, who was recently featured in PokerNews’ popular Online Chat series. Unfortunately for Kerstetter, she missed out on her first ring and had to settle for sixth place.

Pretty sure I'm never gonna win. Button raised, sb 3bet and I 4bet jammed 88 into sb's 99. 6th. Gg live tourneys.

Arkadiy Tsinis is the other pro to make it to the final table. You may recall his bracelet and $540,136 in Event #38 $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em at the 2011 WSOP. Things managed to go Tsinis’ way at the final table and the financial analyst turned poker pro added a gold ring to his collection of WSOP jewelry.

Will “The Thrill” Failla’s live poker earnings have just hit the $4 million mark after taking down the $1,000 Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City on 7th September. Furthermore, Failla has now won a total of five titles at the Borgata Open Series, making his achievement an all-time record.
The re-buy event was held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and managed to attract a field of 159 players to create a prize pool worth $159,000. It would then take Failla two days to overcome the tough field to claim the title, and collect the $46,269 first place prize.
After making all the way to the final table, Failla eventually found himself three-handed against Anthony Zinno and Jonas Wexler. It would then take a further eight hours before Will Failla bested Wexler heads-up to claim the Borgata Open $1,090 no-limit hold’em re-entry title.
Final table payouts as follows:
1 Will Failla – $46,269
2 Jonas Wexler – $25,448
3 Anthony Zinno – $14,652
4 Michael Sneideman – $12,338
5 Ryan Feldman – $9,254
6 Glen Minxolli – $7,712
7 Cary Marshall – $6,169
8 William Jennings – $4,627
9 Xin Jin – $3,470
As well as being one of the most talented pros on the circuit, Will “The Thrill” Failla is also one of its most colourful characters. Last year, the US pro was appointed company spokesman at BubbleProtection.com, a business which offers insurance to poker players from bubbling in tournaments. Describing their latest recruit at the time, Bubble Protection CEO ,” Eugene Castro, said:
“Will is recognized by his peers as one of the most talented tournament players in the world. Will is one of the most popular people on the pro tour. He makes one of the more frustrating endeavors we engage in a bit more tolerable due to his infectious laugh, hilarious off-the-cuff remarks or a simple pat on your shoulder.”
